Our week on the road…..2000 miles later
September 26th, 2009
Two thousand miles later, we made it back to South Carolina. All along the way the Lord kept us safe, he answered our prayers, he let us be a witness, and to be witnessed to.
And now the rest of the story…..
When we left Saturday morning for Versailes, Indiana, Cathy was sick with a fever and bronchitis. We prayed before we left for travling mercy, healing, and for God to anoint us in our ministry….He came through as always on all accounts. Thank you Jesus.
Sunday morning we had the great priviledge to celebrate the Versailles First Baptist Church’s 180th Anniversary. WOW! We really enjoyed hearing about the history of this church and it’s members over the years. Thank you so much Pastor Mike and Sister Brenda for letting us be a part of this very special day. Also, thanks to all the ladies (and gentlemen) for the awsome dinner we shared with you all. We left there with our stomachs full, ready for the trip to Logansport.
How wonderful it was, as always, returning to see our old friends and family. Roger got to see his brand new grandson, Cassedy. What a cute little chunk he was. Didn’t look a thing like his grandpa! HA!
Just like the 1st time we sang at the Cass County 4H fair, this time too was such a blessing. As always we were so glad to see our dear friend Crunch and so many others that it is impossible to name them all…..Jackie, Jim, Dawn, Braydon, Danny, Robin, Tom, Greg, Mel and Linda, Barb, the wonderful couple that sends us peanut and pecan brittle every year…Thank you all for being there! Thanks so much to all the people who made this possible for us, we love coming to sing for the fair. We look forward to coming back any time you will have us. Thanks Crunch for all you have done for us. We love you! Jim, Dawn and Braydon, thanks for riding the rides with Rachel, if we come back next year take your Dramamine first….HA!!!
Right after getting everything loaded back up at the fair, we left out with the big idea of driving all night until we reached Branson, MO for the Branson Gospel Music Convention. Though Roger and Earl (Brenda’s husband) gave it their best shot, the Lord once again watched over us as we snoozed a few hours in the WalMart parking lot. (And you thought all you got there was great deals!)
Finally on Tuesday afternoon we made it there. What a week we had in store. So many friends to make and to see that we had spoken with for so long, but had never laid eyes on. Rod and Kelly Burton were these faceless friends. Their drive and anointing in putting the BGMC together was nothing short of another miracle from God. Though the devil tried to thwart them at every turn, he left bruised and limping because God got all the GLORY!!!!
It was such a figt to be with so many people and groups who may not have the national recoginition, but, like the Shine On Trio, they want to spread the good news of Jesus to all they can. Whether there are 10 or 10,000 gathered, we all want God to be in the midst. We were all together in one accord.
What a wonderful time we had being with and hearing all these groups sind and testify to God’s goodness. We also enjoyed hearing and seeing some of the more renouned groups such as the Chuck Wagon Gang, the Blackwood Qt., Eric Hinson, and the Stamps.
Roger also got to see his sister Audrey, who came up with her friend Susie. Rachel enjoyed Audrey more than anything on our whole trip (it had something to do with Audrey threatening to hit Roger in the head with a frying pan….long story). Also some of Roger’s friends came from his hometown of Houston MO to hear us and catch up on the news…Thanks for coming Eddie, Louellen, and Freddie….it was good to see you!
Thanks to Rod and Kelly for making it all possible…to Jake Holder for being such a good sport with Rachel, and also to sister Cathy for sharing her puppy and her time with Rachel.
Finally on Saturday morning we packed up and headed down the road again. We were now on our way to Kentucky. First stop was to see Roger’s cousin Zona in Barlow. Thanks to Zona and Bob we had a great supper waiting on us, and then we got a chance to go see Aunt Stella. Saturday night we got to stay in our favorite motel in LaCenter, KY. This is also the favorite motel (ONLY MOTEL) for all the local hunters……that must be why they had signs in the room prohibiting the cleaning of game in the rooms and no dogs allowed in the rooms.
Sunday morning we were invited to sing at the Grace Valley Baptist Church in Kevil, KY. Pastor Crane and Sister Mary Lou have a wonderful church and we had a great time praising the Lord with them. Thank you every one for letting us come worship with you.
Back on the road….we made it back to SC about 11pm that night…..and that’s the rest of the story….
THANK YOU LORD FOR ALL YOUR BLESSINGS AND KEEPING US SAFE AND HEALTHY.
ROGER, CATHY AND BRENDA…….THE SHINE ON TRIO
